Brand New Cornerstone Scholarships for Christian Students

The Pastor’s scholarship program for 2014-2015 has already been released, and it is a student scholarship program that is nomination based. This is usually based on the influence of the pastors and youth pastors and on their evaluation of the students that are coming into the school. Most of the students who will be able to benefit from this have to demonstrate a sense of spiritual maturity. This is owing to the fact that the institution is built around a community that is spiritually guided.

The students also have to demonstrate that they are able to contribute to the environment in Cornerstone as active members who are useful to society. The spiritual nature of the environment at Cornerstone is “contagious” and only those students that can blend in with such a system will be able to get these loans.

The Global scholarship program is also another Christian scholarship plan that has been designed for students, especially the missionary kids. It is available not only for new students, but also for transfer students as long as they can meet the eligibility criteria. As is the case with the pastor’s scholarship program, this one is also at the discretion of the mission organization leaders. The family of the students who are eligible for this scholarship will have to be active members of a ministry outside the US.

The students must also demonstrate their passion for the spiritual nature of the school, including a desire to be influence-rs in the world for Christ. Participation in the church community is also another thing that determines whether or not you will be eligible for this Christian scholarship. Only those who have demonstrated active participation both within the church and in the community will have a higher chance of being awarded the scholarship.

There are additional scholarship opportunities that are available for students, like the International Student Grant, which offers a maximum of $3000 to the students. These are usually meant for those students who require financial aid, but for one reason or the other they are not able to get financial assistance from the other federal programs that are available for students.

The university also offers athletic scholarships for those who participate in sports and do excel in the same. You can always consult your coach for more information on this scholarship.

The multicultural scholarship is offered to students who are part of a minority group though they do meet some of the set institutional requirements.

Cornerstone University also offers musical scholarships to students, though you have to audition for such. More information is usually available at the Fine Arts Division, and it is also available for those who are not music majors.

Cornerstone University has gone a long way in providing quality education for students, and they are also doing the same with regard to making sure that students do not get locked out of school for financial reasons with their outstanding Christian scholarship programs.

College of the Ozarks Christian Scholarships

College of the Ozarks scholarships

College of the Ozarks Christian Scholarships

College of the Ozarks Christian scholarships have a different type of Christian scholarships; at least this is what it appears to be.  If you come from a strong work ethic then these are just that.

College of the Ozarks is sometimes referred to as Hard Work U, due to the fact that students do not pay tuition to attend this college, but instead pay for their education through a simplified work program. Located in Missouri, this Christian college has a stated goal of openly discouraging student debt.

In order to pay their way through college, each student enrolled at College of the Ozarks works 15 hours per week. As a result, they are able to graduate without debt. Applicants who are in financial need are favored by the college. The school offers a number of popular majors, including criminal justice, business and education/teaching.  Christian scholarships couldn’t get any better these.

As part of the work program, each student taking at least 12 hours will work at an assigned campus work station. The work education program at College of the Ozarks is designed to involve students in one of more than eighty different work areas.

Combined with grants and scholarships, students taking advantage of the work scholarship here will be able to have the entire cost of their education covered. As a result, many families find College of the Ozarks to be highly affordable.

In addition, students gain valuable on-the-job experience that provides them with a tremendous competitive edge when beginning their after college career. Possible assigned campus work stations might include Ralph Foster Museum, the Child Development Center, the Computer Center, McDonald Clinic or many other options. Students are also able to earn supplemental income through part-time employment with numerous different employers in the nearby cities of Branson and Hollister.

The guaranteed scholarship work program for Christain students at College of the Ozarks pays for the cost of each student’s education and makes college affordable for students who might not otherwise be able to fund the cost of a higher education.

Other students are able to attain freedom from the burden of having to pay back large debts after graduating from college. Along with the 15 hours scheduled weekly through the work program, students also work two 40-hour weeks each year. These weeks are selected from times classes are not regularly in session.

While the automatic Christain scholarship program at the college is based upon financial need, students can also have their room and board at College of the Ozarks covered by working 6 weeks per term during their summer breaks. Through a combination of grants and scholarships, the work scholarship can cover the entire cost of a college education at College of the Ozarks.

College of the Ozarks was originally established by James Forsythe, a Presbyterian missionary who was assigned to Missouri in 1905. Upon arrival, Forsythe saw a desperate need for education among the young people in the region. It was his goal to establish a school where students could gain a quality, Christian education in exchange for work that would assist in the operation of the school. The following year, The School of the Ozarks was established for both genders, particularly for those students with a desire to learn, but without financial resources to attain an education.

While the original purpose of the school was to serve as a high school, a junior college was added to the existing four-year high school program in 1956. In 1964, that program was expanded to a four-year liberal arts program. The College of the Ozarks has been ranked as one of the “Top Baccalaureate Colleges in the Midwest” and has also been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Best Buys.” It has also been listed as a “Best Buy” by The Princeton Review, Forbes and Barron’s Guide and Money Magazine.

College of the Ozarks offers degrees in more than forty academic areas. Academic enrollment at the college is currently at approximately 1,400 students. Along with the guaranteed scholarship to cover the cost of education at College of the Ozarks, other Christian scholarships are also available to assist with other expenses.

The W. Hyer Book Scholarship is a $200 per semester scholarship available to assist with the cost of books. In addition, there are 48 athletic scholarships available at the college each year.

The General Terrence R. Dake, USMC (Ret.) Aviation Scholarship provides$2,500 for students at College of the Ozarks to begin or advance their aviation flight training.

Alumni scholarships, including cash scholarships and room and board scholarships, are also available to students applying to or enrolled in College of the Ozarks to assist with any expenses not covered by the guaranteed scholarship. Read more about the College of the Ozarks Christian scholarships.

Bible Scholarship for Christian Studies

Bible Scholarship

Bible Scholarship

A Bible scholarship for Christian studies is for those who are specifically studying religion in Bible schools, colleges, and universities, as opposed to having a general scholarship for Arts & Sciences, Sports, or Financial concerns. Luckily, there are courses on Bible studies both in colleges and on the internet, which help broaden a student’s opportunities.

*The difference between a student loan and a scholarship is that with scholarships, you will never have to repay their financial support. However, their requirements are far more stringent, and you need to keep your grades and general performance above average, usually meeting a university’s given standards. Scholarships are granted based on an outstanding academic performance, or special skill and talents in a particular field.

Bible study, whether online or in real institutions, tends to be far more costly than community colleges, and schools funded by institutions or the government. It’s best to look for as many Bible college scholarships and random scholarships for your education to avoid cost-cutting on personal and social expenses.

Bible Scholarship Pros and Cons
Getting a Bible college scholarship for Christian studies in an online bible college or course has its advantages over getting one at a university. First, if the time it takes to apply for one is vastly reduced to a few hours of your time online, and you rarely have to travel anywhere outside your home (or local Internet café) to keep track of what the online Bible college community has decided on your behalf. The virtual communities are just as vibrant and well-adjusted in comparison to real life, and you can easily receive lessons via webcam, e-mail, live chatting, or even in social network websites (should the online Bible school allow it).

The clear disadvantage of preferring an online Bible scholarship for Christian students is the lack of a living community to interact with on a real life, social level. Unless you and your online classmates live within short-travel distance, there are very few chances that you can meet with them to properly socialize and know face-to-face. There is also the danger of mistakenly applying for scams that have no bearing on education or even financial support.

These online scholarship scams may either seek to steal your personal identity and information, or your financial status. When sites immediately ask for a donation before letting you continue your application (or if they ask any money from you at all), then you might be setting yourself up for a major scam.

Offline Bible scholarships for Christian studies, those in universities all over the country, have their own ups and downs with their granting of scholarships. As mentioned above, Bible school is one of the most expensive of educations, and even with a partial Bible college scholarship, there may be expenses that the student must pay for with their own funds. Also, Bible schools offline require more social works that those online. With missionary work and local Bible studies in communities from within and around your state, you may be spending more time socializing with your classmates that those who are taking online Bible college scholarships.

The Future of Bible Scholars
There are several options for those who graduate Bible school through Christian scholarships, many of which are full of socially relevant services. Aside from working in the clergy (such as pastors, priests, Biblical scholars and researchers, missionaries, etc.), you may choose to work as a youth counselor, a teacher, even a doctor. There are opportunities everywhere for Bible school scholars, not just in the church.

There are also non-religious companies and institutions (like call-centers, theaters, media companies, among others) are hiring chaplains for spiritual-based counseling, focusing on inmates, mental health patients, substance abuse recovery patients. They can even become probationary officers, private tutors, therapists, and social workers.

Bible scholarship for Christian studies are available for those who know that they want to pursue this line of study and the qualifying criteria may be a lot easier then you realize. This is a field that many students do not want to take on and only for those very few who do.

Newcombe Presbyterian Scholarships for College

Newcomb Presbyterian college scholarships

Newcombe Scholarships

If you will be attending one of the below Presbyterian colleges or a participating Presbyterian college consider the Newcombe Scholarships from the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation. This foundation has been handing out Presbyterian scholarships since 1981 for students who attend designated Presbyterian colleges or those who are eligible to sign up. The ones listed below presently receive funding from the Newcombe Foundation but there may be other Presbyterian colleges who are also being funded by the Foundation and this may change from year to year. Colleges that are related to the Presbyterian (USA) Church catering to the economically disadvantaged all are eligible to work with the Newcombe Foundation. The awards are not given to individuals but to the participating colleges who then disburse the monies to the students.

Charlotte W. Newcombe’s wealth was accumulated from stock purchased by her father of Smith Kline, a Philadelphia drug company in 1890 which grew to 34 million. Before her father died she asked Charlotte not to sell the stock because he knew it was the future of medicine. She did as her father requested and she became wealthy. Charlotte was born with impaired vision so it was difficult for her to read for extended periods of time making it impossible for her to attain a higher education. She placed a high importance on education though and was deeply devoted to her Presbyterian faith. This is why she established in her will that her wealth be used for this purpose and a good one at that. In fact the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) honored the Princeton-based Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation as the “Outstanding Foundation of the Year.” Over $50 million has been awarded for educational grants and Christian scholarships since its inception.

The Newcombe Foundations funds certain colleges based on a criteria in being of educational service to the disadvantaged and those schools with low funding for financial aid. They also must be of the Presbyterian faith.

Additionally, there are Bethesda Scholarships for elementary students, but these awards are for entire classes. Two awards are given each year, in the amount of $250. One is awarded to a lower grade class – up to third grade, and the second is awarded to an upper grade class, from fourth to eighth grade. These classes will be in Lutheran schools, or Lutheran Sunday Schools, and the scholarship is designed to raise awareness of disabilities among elementary aged children.

You can learn more about all of Bethesda Scholarships programs, and apply for the various Lutheran scholarships through the Bethesda Lutheran Scholarship website. Make sure that you pay special attention to the requirements for each christian scholarship – particularly what is and is not acceptable in terms of paid or volunteer work in the field of developmental disabilities. Also, make sure that you are applying for the appropriate Lutheran scholarships for disabilities program – the one that applies to your specific situation.

Scholarships for disabled students can also be found from the Ameriglide Achievers program which is for those who have a wheelchair bound disability. The stipend is not large but qualifying guidelines make this a very fair and much easier scholarship to win. Anyone can apply to this wheelchair scholarship as long as their disability causes them to use a wheelchair. More and more scholarships for disabled college students seem to be more plentiful as more private organizations come out with them.

The Knights of Columbus Scholarships for Catholics

When it comes to Christian scholarships for Catholics, one of the most popular is the Knights of Columbus scholarships for Catholic students. The Knights of Columbus has scholarships for Catholics which are primarily given to Knights who may be working towards bachelor’s degrees in Catholic colleges/ universities throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico & the Philippines. In 2008-2009 the Knights of Columbus handed out $1.5 million in Catholic scholarships to six hundred eighty seven college students.

The Knights of Columbus was chartered on March 29, 1882 by the Connecticut State Legislature. It was through the foresight of Father Michael J. Father McGivney and his followers originally founded the Knights of Columbus on the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, which are still the strong guiding forces behind the society. McGivney’s intentions for the group were to advocate and defend civil and religious rights for all people. Since its beginning, this selfless organization has donated billions of dollars and millions of volunteer community service hours to charity. Unknown Catholic Scholarships for Christians

Some unknown Catholic scholarships for Christians are listed at the end of the article below, but one Catholic organization that offers quite a variety of scholarships for Catholics and financial aid packages is The Catholic Aid Association. They offer scholarships for Christians for students wanting to earn certificates or trades at vocational schools and for people desiring a college degree. There are also numerous unknown scholarships for Catholics to help students interested in theology or pastoral programs, as well.

Because there are so many Catholics in the world, competition for Catholic scholarships can be somewhat rigid. Most of the scholarships for Catholic students require that you be a member of a Catholic church, be active in your own community, and maintain a high grade point average.

The Catholic Church believes in its people, values education, and has no hesitation about helping their members with educational goals and pursuits. The Catholic people believe that if they help their members out when they need help, those same members will help other members out somewhere down the road once they become able to do so. This creates a very beneficial cycle of “giving back to the community.”

Catholicism is the most orthodox form of the Christian faith and constitutes the teachings of the world’s largest church. Although the head of the Catholic church, the Pope, resides at the Vatican in Rome, there are millions of Catholics residing right here in the United States, as well as in several other countries.

Following is a listing of some of the available Catholic scholarships for college. You should contact the financial aid office of your intended school for more information because every Christian college or university will have differences in each Christian Catholic college scholarship they offer, or have variations or substitutes for a particular Catholic scholarship.

Positive Thinking Norman Vincent Peale Scholarships

Although Dr Norman Vincent Peale passed away at the age of 95 on Christmas Eve, 1993, his legacy lives on, partially in the form of highly valued and distinguished Christian scholarships. The positive thinking Norman Vincent Peale Scholarships were created, in Peale’s honor, by Homer and Margaret Surbeck. Six or more of these prestigious Christian school scholarships are available each year at Northwestern College and are valued at more than half of what tuition costs per year (around $14,000). Other selected universities and colleges offer limited numbers of the positive thinking Norman Vincent Peale Scholarships as well.

Dr Norman Vincent Peale was reared in Ohio, brought up in the Methodist faith, and later attended Ohio Wesleyan University. He later attended Boston University’s School of Theology. Although Dr Norman Vincent Peale was brought up in a Methodist household, his parents encouraged him to expose himself to liberalism, which probably accounts for his diverse collection of interests, such as psychology, liberalism, modernism, and universalism. He was first ordained as a Methodist Minister in 1922, but later changed over to Dutch Reform (in 1932) and became one of New York City’s most notorious and well-loved preachers.

Dr Norman Vincent Peale is best remembered as a legendary Protestant Preacher of the twentieth century. He authored The Power of Positive Thinking in 1952, founded Guidepost magazine in 1945, hosted The Art of Living radio program for 54 years, and pastored the Marble Collegiate Church for 52 years. His life story, One Man’s Way, was broadcast in 1964. Peale had a passion for mixing religion with psychology, which often earned him criticism. Peale was an inspiration to all people with his highly motivational, self-esteem building, and theoretical methodologies.

Dr Norman Vincent Peale Scholarships are available to select incoming freshmen students who, in addition to demonstrating high academic promise, also display leadership skills in the areas of church, community, and school. As long as the students maintain cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher, they are given the chance to renew the Christian college scholarships every year.
